Momentary Soft Touch Kill Switch, Latching Kill Switch, and Momentary + Latching
Saturnworks kill switch pedals allow you to turn off your signal with a soft touch footswitch, a latching footswitch, or an arcade switch.
The soft touch switches can produce a ‘stutter’ effect. Holding down the switch kills the signal. It comes back on when you release it. One of our great customers posted an interesting video of the Saturnworks arcade kill in action (at the 2:45 mark).* We also have a demo video of our arcade kill switch on our YouTube channel. The micro soft touch version provides the same soft-touch momentary on/off functionality, but in a tiny 2″ x 2″ enclosure.
The reversed soft touch switch work like the regular versions, except (you guessed it) in reverse. With the reversed version, the signal is normally off. Holding down the switch turn the signal on. The signal turns off again when you release the switch. The stereo arcade switch has two separate arcade switches on two channels, housed in the same enclosure.
The latching version allows you to click your signal on/off and leave it. This can be useful if you need to walk away from your rig, make adjustments, unplug and reconnect components, etc. The latching versions with an LED adds an LED that indicates when your signal is on/off.
Our stereo kill switches come in two configurations: TRS jacks or pairs of TS jacks. The TRS jack version has both stereo channels TRS input/output jacks — a TRS in and a TRS out. Our TS version has one channel on each of the TS jacks — two TS inputs and two TS outputs.
The momentary + latching version is available in either a horizontally or vertically oriented layout.
The latching + momentary + reversed kill switch version combines all three types of kill switches in one pedal — three switches with triple functionality. If the latching switch is in the on position, the regular momentary switch turns the signal off. If the latching switch is in the off position, the reversed momentary switch turns on or ‘revives’ the signal.
Momentary Arcade Kill Switches
We have a variety of momentary kill switches featuring an arcade button. These switches are best used by hand (rather than with your foot) as they’re all plastic and probably not as durable as their metal cousins. However if you’re using them with your hands, they provide great response and a satisfying tactile feel.
We offer momentary kill, reversed kill (‘revive’) and kill + reversed kill arcade switches.
Updated design! The arcade + reversed arcade kill switch has a mini toggle that switches between standard and ‘reversed’ kill switch control. This version replaced our previous 2-button arcade + reversed arcade and is simpler, cheaper, and smaller than our previous iteration.
We also offer a combination arcade kill + volume pedal. Our arcade kill switch + volume control features both an arcade and a passive volume control that cuts volume. This can use useful for momentarily cutting your signal or for volume swells. By default, the volume control is a 250k pot. We can also do 100k, 25k, or 10k pots by request. Kill Switch Looper (Momentary or Latching)
The combination kill switch/looper adds either a latching or momentary kill switch as a second, along with a single true bypass looper. The momentary version is soft-touch switch that can create a stutter effect, or momentarily switch off the signal for whatever reason you’d like. The signal is off while you’re holding down the switch. The latching switch can be toggled on or off. The latching version includes an LED that indicates when the signal is off. With the LED version, the switches themselves don’t require power. The power, provided by a DC jack, is only to make the LED light up.
A/B + Latching Kill switch
The A/B + latching kill switch combines the functionality of an A/B and a latching kill switch into one compact package. The A/B can be used to switch your signal to different amps, or it can be hooked up in reverse to switch between different instruments.
2-Channel Kill Switch + 2-Channel Kill switch w/ TRS Input + 2-Channel Alternating Kill
Our two-channel latching kill switch has two separate signal paths housed in one enclosure. Each channel has its own on/off latching or momentary switch, depending on the version.
Our two-channel latching version with a TRS input also has two separate channels with on/off latching switches. On this version, though, the input is TRS. The two (tip and ring) channels are separated into their own TS output jacks.
The 2-channel ‘alternating’ kill switch with TS jacks has two channels. The switch alternates which channel is active, rather than turning both on/off together. For example, when channel A is active channel B is silent and when channel B is active channel A is silent. The switch alternates between the two channels. This setup is useful to switch between two instruments going to two amps but with only one active at a time.
XLR Microphone Latching Kill Switch
Our XLR latching microphone kill switch enables you switch XLR signals on and off. This switch can be useful to ensure that a microphone is off, prevent feedback, etc. It features an LED indicator powered by an external DC jack. The switch itself is passive and doesn’t require power to function. Check out our microphone switches page for additional mic switching options.
Tuner Mute Switch
The tuner mute switch is a passive splitter with one of the outputs being always on and an on/off latching switch on the other. The always-on tuner jack allows you to tune while playing. Or, you can mute your primary signal output and tune silently.
Please note: being a passive splitter, it is best used with a buffered signal in order to prevent signal loss.
General Info
*Please note: Momentary kill switches can have light click or popping sounds when switching the signal rapidly on and off. This is just the physics of sound waves as they’re abruptly cut off and does not indicate that there is a problem with your switch. This phenomenon may be more noticeable with clean sounds while not as noticeable with distorted sounds, as distorted sound waves themselves are already ‘clipped’ waveforms.
