Soft Touch Tap / Momentary Switches
Our best selling momentary switches, the Saturnworks soft touch tap tempo / momentary switches allow you to set delay rates, or perform switching functions, for a huge variety of effects pedals and other devices. The soft touch switch is click-less, durable, and very quiet.
The normally closed (NC) version is compatible with Boss devices requiring momentary switching, including (but not limited to) the DD-5, DD-7, DD-20, RC-2, and RC-3, or any pedal that requires a normally closed (NC) tap tempo. Some Moog devices call for normally closed switches. Check with your manual for more specific information.
The normally open (NO) version works for any device that requires a normally open tap tempo. Most brands other than Boss use the normally open standard. Brands and devices that use normally open momentary switches include compatible devices from EHX, MXR, Line 6, JHS, Dunlop, most boutique brands, devices such as the Suzuki Omnichord, and many more.
New starting January 2021: upgraded soft touch momentary switches! We are now installing new higher-grade soft touch momentary switches in our soft touch momentary applications. We were able to source a higher quality soft touch momentary switch than any switch we’ve used previously. Our new switch is both very quiet and beefier than any other soft touch momentary switch we’ve seen on the market.
Micro Tap / Momentary Switches
The Saturnworks micro soft touch tap tempo is the same solid tap tempo as the standard soft touch tap tempo, but squeezed into the smallest package possible, a tiny 2” x 2” cast aluminum enclosure. It is available with either a normally closed (NC) switch that may be used with Boss devices, a normally open (NO) switch, for use with most brands other than Boss, and a TC Electronics variation that works with external tap compatible TC Electronics devices.
Strymon
The micro Strymon compatible tap sets the delay rate for compatible Strymon devices including the TimeLine, Mobius, and Flint. Strymon uses a non-standard TRS configuration and is not compatible with standard tap tempo pedals. The Strymon tap can also be used as a “freeze” or “infinite” switch for compatible devices. The Strymon compatible tap requires a TRS (stereo) patch cable in order to function properly. We have TRS cables available here.
We’ve also heard that the Strymon compatible tap works well for the ‘squeal’ setting on the Line 6 DL4 MkII, connected with a TRS cable.
TC Electronics
The TC compatible switch is a normally open ring-to-ground switch that must be connected with a TRS patch cable, available here. This video provides helpful information on how to set up a TC Flashback 2 with an external tap tempo. (Please note, the Saturnworks TC compatible micro tap must be connected with a regular TRS cable, rather than the custom TRS to TS cable that he builds.) The TC variation also works as a tap tempo for the Source Audio Nemesis.
Source Audio
We also have a TRRS tap switch that may be used with Source Audio devices. This version connects with a 1/8″ TRRS jack. This tap version includes a 1′ 1/8″ TRRS cable. Please note: This switch is not a simple plug and play type of external switch. The setup for this external switch is a lot more complex and requires you to configure external switching with your device using SA’s app or desktop software. If you don’t do that kind of configuration, using a mobile device or computer, the switch will not function. We also offer a latching version of the micro TRRS switch here.
Arcade Tap / Momentary Switch
A normally open tap tempo with an arcade switch. Perfect for setting a tap tempo by hand. Please note: The arcade switch only comes in a normally open configuration.
‘Pro’ Clicking Tap / Momentary Switch
Saturnworks ‘pro’ momentary switches feature a clicking momentary switch and come in several varieties.
Both the soft touch and clicking switches are heavy-duty/high quality. The key difference is that the soft touch switch does not have a click, while the ‘pro’ clicking switch has a light click. The click provides a bit of haptic feedback This feedback can be useful for switching pedals or scrolling through/selecting menus.
The normally closed (NC) version works for all Boss devices, including the DD-5, DD-7, DD-20, RC-2, and RC-3, or any pedal that requires a normally closed (NC) tap tempo.
The normally open version works for any device that requires a normally open (NO) tap tempo. Most brands other than Boss use the normally open standard. Note: a normally open momentary (tap) switch also works as an infinity switch for the EHX Oceans 11 reverb.
The clicking momentary switch with reversible polarity features a toggle that switches between normally open and normally closed. This versatility means that you can use it with many tap tempo compatible devices. The reversible polarity model is available in either compact or micro sizes.
Dual Tap Tempo / Momentary Switches
The dual tap tempo lets you synch two devices with a single switch. The dual tap comes with both jacks wired as normally closed (NC), both normally open (NO), or one of each (NC+NO).
Our dual tap tempo is also available in reversible a polarity model. The reversible polarity version allows you to independently set the polarity of each jack as either normally open (NO) or normally closed (NC).
Our dual taps use our ‘pro’ clicking momentary switch. They are not compatible with soft click momentary switches.
Double Momentary Switches with Reversible Polarity
The double momentary with reversible polarity saves space by combining two separate momentary/tap tempo circuits in one compact enclosure. Both tap tempo circuits feature a polarity switch to switch the jacks from normally open (NO) or normally closed (NC). The polarity toggles allow the switch to work with a wide variety of devices. Double Momentary Switches with a TRS Jack
This pedal works like the Boss FS-6 in that it combines two tap tempo /momentary switches in one pedal connected by a single TRS (stereo) jack/patch cable. This version is available with either ‘pro’ clicking or soft touch momentary switches. Like our other offerings, they come in normally open or normally closed configurations.
Triple Tap / Momentary Switch
The triple tap can synch three different devices simultaneously. The default configurations are all normally open or normally closed. If you would like a combination of normally open and normally closed (two normally open and one normally closed, for example), just include a note with your order to request your preffered combination.

Please note: momentary kill switches can have light click or popping sounds when switching the signal rapidly on and off. This is just the physics of sound waves as they’re abruptly cut off and does not indicate that there is a problem with your switch. This phenomenon may be more noticeable with clean sounds while not as noticeable with distorted sounds, as distorted sound waves themselves are already ‘clipped’ waveforms.
