Splitters may be broadly categorized as either active or passive. Active splitters use buffer circuits to prevent tone/signal loss. Alternatively, passive splitters offer simplicity and cost savings. Active Splitter & Splitters with Switches and Level Controls

The Saturnworks active splitter a great way to split your signal. Saturnworks active splitters feature two buffers, one on each output. Having a separate buffer on each output both preserves your signal from degradation when splitting and provides signal separation between the outputs. This means that whatever you do to one output doesn’t affect the other. For example, you can turn one output down, or off (i.e. sending it to ground), without affecting the level of the other channel.
Our standard active/buffer splitter circuit has an input impedance of 1M and an output impedance of <100 ohms. In other words, it does a good job of buffering the signals. In addition, our active splitters can input unbalanced line level signals. The buffers will step a line level signal down to buffered instrument level. This can be useful if you’re trying to connect line level instruments, such as keyboards, for example, to guitar gear that usually expects instrument level signals.

The versions with switches and level controls add (you guessed it) switches and/or level controls. The level controls only cut volume. In other words, they max out at unity gain and reduce the volume from there down to zero. If you’re looking to boost your outputs, the versions with clean boosts have discreet clean boosts circuits on each output to provide more oomph to your signal.

Our 2-way active splitter + kill switch is designed specifically to work as a ‘tuner out’ pedal. It actively splits the input two ways. The top output jack is always on while the lower output jack has an on/off latching kill switch. You can connect a tuner to the top and either tune while playing or switch the signal off that is going to the amp to tune silently. However, this pedal is not limited to only being a tuner out. It can be used in any setup in which you would like to split your signal and have the ability to switch one of the outputs on and off.
3-Way and 4-Way Active Splitters

Drawing on the same active circuitry as the active/buffered splitter, Saturnworks 3 and 4-way splitters takes a single input and splits it into three or four outputs. Like our 2-way splitters, each channel of the split has its own buffer, which means strong output signals and zero tone or level loss.

The 2:4 splitter splits two inputs to two pairs of outputs, using the same buffered splitting circuits as the 2, 3, and 4-output splitters. This version works great for splitting a stereo signal.

Pan Pedal

Everyone knows how an A/B pedal works…camera one/camera two. How about a pedal that seamlessly pans your guitar back and forth between two amps? Say hello to the Saturnworks pan pedal.
You can set the knob fully counterclockwise for one output, fully clockwise for the other, or anywhere in between to blend the two. The Saturnworks pan pedal uses dual active buffers for panning across two outputs without tone loss. If you only have one amp plugged in, you can use the pan pedal as a buffered volume control. You can also use the pan pedal as a simple buffer or buffered splitter.
The pan pedal uses a unique ‘blend’ pot. Rather than criss-crossing each other like an X, with a possible volume dip in the middle, the blend pot maintains the outputs’ signals at full volume at the midway point. Therefore, at the 50/50 mark, the pan pedal works as a buffered splitter. The pot features a helpful center detent, so you can easily tell when you’re at the mid mark.
Bass Mod
The bass mod allows more lower-range frequencies to enter the circuit. The mod doesn’t cut any highs and therefore can also be used with guitars. If you would like to add a bass mod to any active splitter, head on over to our custom upgrades page where you can add this mod at no additional cost.
