Pickup Simulator
The Saturnworks pickup simulator essentially “un-buffers” your signal so that you can more easily integrate devices, such as many fuzz pedals, that don’t work well with a buffered signal.
Fuzz pedals sound great. However, integrating them into a pedalboard can be challenging if they don’t work well with a buffered signal. You can’t put them after any Boss pedal, buffered splitter, or active pickups, for example, as putting them after a buffer can make them sound thin. This limits your options and often requires you to put them first in your signal path, which may not be ideal for your setup.
Enter the Saturnworks pickup simulator!
Placing the pickup simulator before the fuzz pedal fools the device into ‘thinking’ that you’re plugging your guitar straight into it, even though you are running it through other devices and buffers. This allows you to put your fuzz pedals wherever you’d like in your signal chain, rather than only up front. For example, using the pickup simulator, you can use fuzz pedals with active pickups, put them in your amp’s effects loop, or in parallel setups, without negatively affecting their sound.
The pickup simulator is passive and doesn’t require power. It features an internal switch that allows you to switch between simulating a single coil or a humbucker-style pickup. The internal switch also has a bypass setting.
We also offer versions with either an external bypass toggle or a bypass footswitch. The version with a bypass footswitch is housed in a 1590B-sized (4.39” 2.4″ x 1.24”) enclosure. The pedal itself is passive and requires standard pedal power (9v DC center-negative) to make the LED work.
2-Channel Pickup Simulator
Our 2-channel pickup simulator features the same passive pickup simulating circuitry as our regular single version, just with two channels housed in one enclosure. The 2-channel version is housed in a 1590B-sized (4.39” 2.4″ x 1.24”) enclosure.
